Relaxation is an invitation. Keep inviting yourself.
Relaxation is an invitation. Keep inviting yourself.
Our mind and body are deeply connected. Through our nervous system, thoughts and emotions can trigger physical reactions. When we sense danger—real or imagined—our body activates the stress response: heart rate increases, muscles tense, and breathing quickens to prepare us to fight, run or freeze.
Everyday Stress
While obvious dangers like conflict or abuse can trigger this response, so can the ongoing pressures of modern life—work, family, finances, illness, loss, and more. Even our memories and worries can keep us in a state of mental and physical tension, sending constant alert signals to the body. Over time, this can lead to exhaustion, brain fog, digestive issues and weakened immunity.
Breaking the Cycle
The good news is that we can overcome and move beyond past challenges, and reduce stress in our lives, by maintaining a practice of nurturing mind, body and soul. Our bodies are built to heal and return to balance. We can support this natural process by interrupting stress patterns and creating space for rest and recovery. Relaxation is a powerful tool to reset the nervous system and help you feel calmer, clearer, and more resilient.
About my Programmes
My programmes are designed to help you break that cycle and develop a regular self-care practice. The Change series offers journaling and reflection activities to help you in your personal growth. The Change programmes will help you to:
take stock of your life and reflect on your relationships with friends, family, community and other aspects of your life
work out how you can support others whilst also nourishing yourself and expressing your own needs
become aware of the self-critical and negative thoughts that hold you back and begin to swap them for more truthful and optimistic thoughts that support you in your daily life and aspirations
recognise that your feelings can be part of your navigation system through life - understand how to regulate your feelings in times of stress
be true to yourself, to your values, to your personal philosophy, work out what gives you purpose and meaning and what your spirituality means to you
The Relax & Realign series offer a range of practices—guided relaxation, visualisation, breathwork, gentle movement, and the Vittoz method—to help bring your nervous system back to balance and to help you embody the changes you're making through the Change series.
As you learn different techniques, you'll start to integrate them into your daily life, so you can more easily regulate your nervous system and your emotions when you're faced with stress or life challenges. Take the programmes at your own pace and repeat them as often as you like.
You'll need
Log in easily to the learning app on your phone, so that you can access the material anywhere and develop a practice of regular self-care through relaxation and mind/body techniques. You'll need:
A quiet space for movement and relaxation (a yoga mat, blanket, and pillow can help)
Headphones (optional)
A notepad or journal
Paper and colouring pens
A personal commitment to making space and time for yourself
An Invitation
Relaxation is an invitation. We're all different and it's important that you only do what feels right for you. Each activity is an invitation, not an obligation. Listen to your body, honour your own pace, and don't worry if you can't do all the activities or if you don't feel like doing them all - come back to them again another time. I understand it's not always easy to develop a personal practice - life just kept getting in the way - but the beauty of my programmes is that the activities are all under 20 minutes, so you really can dip in and out. Little and often can help to develop your practice so that it becomes integrated into your daily life. And if you have any questions or would like mentoring support, you're welcome to get in touch or book 1-to-1 sessions with me, alongside your programme.
Let this be a gentle space for you to reconnect with yourself, release tension, and restore balance. I hope you enjoy the journey.
Important Note on Contraindications: Relaxation practices, including yoga and progressive muscle relaxation, are generally safe and beneficial for most people. However, they are not suitable for everyone in every situation. If you are pregnant, recovering from surgery, or have medical conditions such as hernias, ulcers, hypertension, asthma, epilepsy, heart disease, joint pain, chronic back issues, or a history of trauma or psychiatric conditions, please consult your healthcare provider before beginning. Certain movements, positions, or breathing techniques may need to be avoided or adapted to ensure your safety. In rare cases, relaxation techniques may trigger discomfort, increased anxiety, or intrusive thoughts. Always listen to your body, adapt practices as needed, and seek medical guidance if unsure. Your safety and comfort are the priority—relaxation should never cause strain or distress.
